Grandkids!
It has been a long time since I posted anything on this blog....in fact over a year. Since then we have had three additions to our family: 1) Shaun Mangelson who married Brittany in January, 2) Roxy Alexandra Phillips (born August 12th) who is our first grandchild and daughter of Chris and Julie, 3) Jacob Shaun Mangelson (born October 31st) who is the son of Shaun and Brittany. We are excited to be grandparents and aunts. When the babies come to visit they are never put down, there is always an aunt or grandparent there to hold them. Fun stuff.
We are getting ready for Christmas...almost there...and the best addition to the Christmas season is our new kitchen. I will try to remember to post some pictures when I get home, but it is looking nice. ( I did link to a video of the kitchen in its 2/3 of the way done stage).
Hope all is well with you and yours! Merry Christmas

2009 Coming to an end!
Well, 2009 is almost over and there have been some pretty amazing happenings. The last post mentioned that we were getting ready for Chris and Julie's wedding on May 16th. Well that happened and went pretty much according to plan except that it was over 100 degrees on the 16th down in Fresno and the reception was in Julie's uncle and aunt's backyard. The next Saturday it was at our home in the backyard and the weather turned cold and windy and everyone crammed inside our home...yikes! Chris Burley asked Shaunna to marry him three days after Chris and Julie's wedding and they were married in the Oakland Temple (the Sacramento Temple was closed for cleaning) on August 8th. We had a great reception in our backyard that evening and had perfect weather. They had a reception two weeks later up in Bellingham Washington where Chris B. is from. About a month later Shaun Mangelson asked Brittany to marry him and they set their date for January 16th, 2010. So we are in the midst of planning another reception. This one will be in the cultural hall at the church. I was called to be the bishop of Laguna Creek 5th Ward on October 18th. So new calling with lots more time commitment. Thanksgiving was fun with all the family here except Melissa who is still in the mission field in Nebraska. Christmas was great. Shaunna and her husband Chris were here for Thanksgiving along with all the other kids, but they were in Bellingham for Christmas...that is how their family has worked it out and we said okay. Julie and Chris came and announced that Sherry and I will be grandparents in August! Wahoo! Melissa called Christmas afternoon about 2 hours later than she said she would because they were snowed in. She will be coming home on January 8th, one week before Brittany's wedding. Life is busy but fun around here.
Happy New Year Everyone!

New Things!
Chris is getting married May 16th in the Fresno Temple to Julie Catton. David has had his position change with Seminaries and Institutes (CES)...he has been asked to be the area director for the US California North Area. Sherry is frantically planting flowers and things in her yard to be ready for an open house May 23rd for Julie and Chris. Brittany is the relief society president for the singles branch. Melissa lived through a tornado out in Nebraska. Shaunna finished her second year at BYU and is finished with physics. Tori is now almost 6'1", but more importantly is playing "Dori" in the ward road show. Wynne is on the tennis team at school. Zoe is 12 and loves going to Young Womens at church. Lindsay is hoping to swim all summer long.
That is the new stuff with us. Check out some of the latest pictures posted as well.

Christmas Greetings!
Merry Christmas everyone from the Phillips Family!
We have had quite the eventful year and instead of sending out a family letter in our Christmas card we decided to take advantage of technology and write it here. We hope this works for everyone.
Here are our TOP TEN EVENTS OF 2008!!...
We have had quite the eventful year and instead of sending out a family letter in our Christmas card we decided to take advantage of technology and write it here. We hope this works for everyone.
Here are our TOP TEN EVENTS OF 2008!!...
- Number 10...Thanksgiving in Payson, UT. We all gathered at Grandpa & Grandma Phillips' house in Payson for Thanksgiving...ate lots of food, played games and took a family picture...Wahooo!

- Number 9...Brittany is Working. Brittany decided to try for a job with the Elk Grove school district and was hired as a para-educator assistant (she works with an autistic girl) and now wants to be an Elementary School Teacher. She will start classes towards her teaching credential in January.

- Number 8...We Remodeled Again. We turned our downstairs bedroom into a computer/library/guest room with a Murphy Bed along one wall, but still need the bookcases and computer center along the other wall to complete the computer/library part of the room.
- Number 7...Only 2 Kids in Sports. Lindsay played recreational league soccer again this year with the same team she has been on for the last 5 years. Tori made the Varsity volleyball team as a 6' sophomore and had a great season. She is now playing on a club team and is almost 6'1".

- Number 6...Only 2 Kids at BYU. Only!? Chris and Shaunna are at BYU-Provo and loving it. Chris is in his Senior year and Shaunna is a Sophomore. Both are working on an exercise science major...Chris towards Optometry or Med School, and Shaunna towards Physical Therapy. Fun Fun!

- Number 5...Melissa is serving a mission in Omaha,Nebraska. Melissa left in September to serve for 18 months in the Nebraska Omaha Mission. When she got there her mission president assigned her to work in the Mormon Trail Center as a tour guide as well.
- Number 4...Brittany returned from her mission to the Philippines Bacolod Mission. Brittany had a wonderful time as a missionary in the Philippines and learned to love the people, so much so that she dyed her hair black before she came home.
- Number 3...Cruise with Keith & Tammy. Sherry and David had a blast on a cruise with Keith and Tammy. We both celebrated our 25th wedding anniversaries this year (wow we're old!). We went to Cabo, Mazatlan and Acapulco... shopped, rode buses and zip lined. (maybe we're still young!)

- Number 2...DISNEYLAND!!!
- We did another "family reunion" trip in January with the Phillips side of the family to Disneyland, and the San Diego Zoo, and Sea World, and Universal Studios. Mucho fun.
(love those silly pictures!)
- And Number 1...HAWAII. Just after Brittany returned home in April and Chris and Shaunna finished their semester at the Y we all flew over to Hawaii for a fantastic family vacation on the Big Island of Hawaii for a week and 3 days on Oahu. What a wonderful trip it was.
(we can do normal pics too)
NO MORE TRAVELING IN 2009.........NOT!!!

Joe and the Boys
Sorry I haven't been very diligent in updating this blog, it is still too new to me and you all know the old saying..."out of sight, out of mind".
Anyway, what is new with our family is that we have Joe Sudderth (Nicole's husband) and their two boys living with us for awhile. They are fitting in pretty well with our kids, even though they are all boys :) We are helping them get back on their feet and Joe is working hard to earn up the money they need to get a place of their own.
Brittany is doing great in the Philippines, and we just added some photos from her on the www.picasaweb.google.com/phillfam10 picture site. Check them out!
Chris and Shaunna love BYU and are doing well in classes. Melissa is busy earning money and is looking to put papers in for a mission of her own.
Tori is having fun as a Freshman, and is playing on the Freshman volleyball squad.
Wynne is an 8th grader and is working on the school yearbook.
Zoe and Lindsay are in 5th and 3rd grades respectively and love school. Lindsay is playing soccer again this year and is learning more about the game. Zoe spends tons of time with her pup, Bella, who just turned 1 year old this week.
That is life in the Phillips household. Hope all is well in yours!!
